Dan WallisVice President Mr. Wallis was raised in Paris, Texas, and attended Texas A&M University- Commerce, graduating in 1995. While attending college, Mr. Wallis was a founding member and Public Relations Officer of the Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity chapter. He attended St. Mary's University School of Law, and earned his law degree in 1998. Mr. Wallis has been licensed to practice law since 1998, and has been Board Certified in Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2005. Mr. Wallis has practiced primarily in the area of bankruptcy law since becoming licensed in 1998. During that time he has litigated extensively in bankruptcy court, setting precedent in stay violation cases, Rule 9011 violations, objections to discharge, and student loan discharges. In addition, he successfully appealed an adverse ruling to the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, resulting in economic recovery for his clients and precedent that protects the interest of debtors over trustees. Mr. Wallis strongly believes that bankruptcy law is an effective remedy to help honest but unfortunate individuals and families overcome the financial struggles that often arise after a job loss, income loss, divorce, major illness or death in the family. Mr. Wallis is committed to helping people save their family home and vehicles, stop foreclosures, reduce or eliminate unsecured debts, and obtain relief from onerous IRS and student loan collection practices, using the protections of the bankruptcy laws. Prior to coming to Bailey & Galyen, Mr. Wallis was a Bankruptcy Litigator for the Texas Attorney General, an attorney for the Law Offices of Phil Black in Abilene, Texas, and a staff attorney for Family Haven Domestic Violence Shelter in Paris.
